The Little English School is an international English school located in the centre of Vicenza. We offer programmes in Early Childhood, Elementary Education and After School. Our ultimate goal is to teach children to become successful, thoughtful and productive members of society.
With the guidance of our trained and caring staff, we have established an environment where creative problem solving is encouraged, basic and critical thinking skills are developed, citizenship and civic mindedness are emphasised and a strong sense of self-worth is instilled. The academic and emotional progress of each and every child is paramount to us, which is why we keep a very low student-teacher ratio. Each child is given the attention he/she needs – as an individual and as a part of a group.
Mission
The Little English School is committed to creating a dynamic learning environment which fosters and nurtures the uniqueness of each student. Recognizing the wide range of aptitudes, interests, cultural backgrounds and learning styles of our student body, we assume the responsibility of providing an atmosphere which encourages all students to strive for academic excellence relative to their own potential.
Goals
- To create a secure, happy and stimulating environment that supports the all-round (academic, physical, social and emotional) development of each child.
- To enable each child to feel valued and confident and to develop sound interpersonal skills and social relations.
- To provide a broad and balanced curriculum across all areas of experience, so that each child is challenged and motivated to their full potential.
- To provide a curriculum which covers the subject requirements of the Italian education system, whilst using the methodology of a British educational experience.
- To enable each child to use language effectively and to develop their comprehension of English by providing stimulating opportunities.
- To develop in children a sense of self respect, self-reliance, awareness and sensitivity to the needs of others.
- To encourage qualities such as inventiveness, curiosity and imagination and help each child to develop a lively enquiring mind.
- To promote and encourage respect for moral values, by celebrating the richness of other religions, races, cultures, nationalities and ways of life.
Philosophy
We believe that the way children learn is essential for the development of positive characteristics that will assist them in their future personal, academic and professional lives. It is not only the factual content of learning that helps us to become successful participants in society, but also the approach to learning as a reflection of our attitudes to life, work and other people.
Bilingualism
There are significant advantages in learning a second language early in life. Very young children learn through play and first hand experience, in the same way they learn their first language. Through a varied and stimulating curriculum, children manage to develop their knowledge and understanding in two different languages at the same time. A bilingual education not only develops language skills; it is an excellent preparation for learning in general, and offers children an insight into other cultures.
